Ahmed Abdelkader, Al Ahly’s football first team attacking midfielder, spoke on Tuesday ahead of the team’s first game in the FIFA Club World Cup against C.F. Monterrey of Mexico.

In an exclusive interview with us, Abdelkader talked about the importance of the competition to him as a player, the team’s preparations for our opening match in the tournament, and commented on the fans' constant support to the team.

“This the first-ever FIFA Club World Cup in my career. Hopefully, we achieve a better position this year than what the team has accomplished last season.”

“Everyone in the team prepares himself very well in order to be ready whenever called upon.”

“We will take it step by step. Our goal is to win the first match and then we will see what happens next.”

“I’ve been following Al Ahly’s previous encounters in the FIFA Club World Cup. I remember when I was a child, I watched the team playing in the competition.”

“One of my dreams at Al Ahly was to win the CAF Super Cup; thank God, I was able to do so. Now, I have another dream and that is to win the FIFA Club World Cup with Al Ahly.”
